Shaista Lodhi Reminds Nation of Muharram’s True Respect and Forgotten Traditions

Famous actress and host Shaista Lodhi shared a special post on social media, expressing her feelings about the respect and importance of the month of Muharram.

In her Instagram post, she compared how people used to show respect for Muharram during her childhood with how things are today.

She wrote that it feels painful to say this, but during her childhood, Muharram and Ashura were very different. Children were taught to respect certain traditions and stay away from some things during this time.

She added that they were truly curious to learn about how our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his family made great sacrifices to keep Islam alive. From their stories, they learned about faith, sacrifice, patience, and most importantly, love for Allah.

Shaista said that she does not see this strong connection in today’s generation. Not everything should change with time.

She shared that in those holy days, no movies were released in cinemas, and music was not part of daily life. Gatherings and celebrations were held at other suitable times, but not during Muharram.

The actress added that she is not sure if she is the only one who feels this way or if others feel the same too.

She also said that some pain is never meant to be forgotten. Not all pain should be erased; some pain stays close to the heart.

Shaista ended her post with a few verses:

The family of Hussain is greater than the whole world
The leader of all prophets is Hussain’s grandfather
Yazid ruled for just a moment
But centuries belong to Hussain, and time remembers Hussain

Most people on social media agreed with her and supported her opinion. Many praised Shaista for raising this issue and said they also feel that Muharram is no longer respected the way it used to be.
