Shoulder surgery — how is Shadab Khan doing now?
Former national cricket team vice-captain and all-rounder Shadab Khan has shared a health update with fans following his shoulder surgery.
Recently, Shadab Khan posted a photo on the photo and video sharing app Instagram, where he can be seen smiling and giving a thumbs-up pose from the hospital, with a bandage on one of his arms.
In the caption of the post, the cricketer informed fans: “Alhamdulillah! The surgery was successfully completed. Now begins the phase of recovery and rehabilitation.
Shadab Khan, while requesting prayers from his fans, further wrote:
I request all of you to remember me in your prayers.
It is important to note that Shadab may take around 12 weeks to recover, due to which he is expected to miss the series against Bangladesh and West Indies, and his participation in the Asia Cup is also uncertain.
Regarding this, a spokesperson for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) stated that Shadab Khan needs rest after the surgery, and they are hopeful that he will be fully fit before the Asia Cup.
It was revealed that Shadab Khan had been experiencing shoulder discomfort for some time, which made it difficult for him to throw the ball. The situation worsened during the series against Bangladesh, where he even began to feel pain while bowling googlies.
While on vacation in England, an MRI scan revealed the severity of the injury. Based on the results, doctors advised immediate surgery, which was then successfully performed.
It’s also worth noting that Shadab Khan has so far represented Pakistan in 6 Test matches, 70 ODIs, and 112 T20 Internationals. Across these formats, he has scored 1,947 runs and taken 211 wickets.
