Famous Pakistani actor and religiously inclined personality Hamza Ali Abbasi recently gave an interview where he openly talked about different aspects of his personal and religious life.
Hamza Ali Abbasi had recently led the Nikah ceremony of a friend, and the video went viral on social media. In the interview, he also gave a clear response to the criticism he received for it.
Hamza said that leading a Nikah or offering a funeral prayer is not only the responsibility of religious scholars. Every Muslim should learn how to do it.
He added that while leading the Nikah, he also invited a religious scholar to make sure everything was done according to Islamic rules. He said it is important for us to learn these basic things because they are a part of our religion.
Hamza rejected the idea that an actor should not talk about religion. He explained that he is not a Mufti or an Islamic scholar, and whatever he says is based on the knowledge he has learned from authentic religious scholars. If he speaks without knowledge, it would be wrong. But as a Muslim, he also has the right to talk about religion.
Hamza said that before 2017, he did some things that were not right, but after gaining religious awareness, he now does everything carefully and within the limits of Islam.
He stressed that when an actor appears on any platform, they do not only represent themselves but also their nation. So their character, language, and behavior all matter.
