Famous actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh is facing strong criticism these days for his Punjabi film Sardar Ji 3 because he cast Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the lead role.

Although the film has not been released in India, it is still getting a lot of backlash. However, the film was released internationally, including in Pakistan, on June 27 and has received a very positive response.

Despite the criticism, Diljit Dosanjh, who played the lead role in the film, shared the response from Pakistani audiences on his Instagram stories on Sunday. This reaction came after the ban on the film’s release in India.

Diljit reposted a video on his Instagram story that showed the great response the film received in a cinema in Pakistan.

Interestingly, in the beginning of the video, Hania Aamir was seen on the cinema screen.

The video shared on Instagram had a caption that said: 12 shows on the biggest cinema screens in the country. Amazing response for Sardar Ji 3. Come and watch.

This post was originally shared by Universal Cinemas, a cinema chain in Lahore and Islamabad, on their Instagram account. Diljit added it to his Instagram story.

Another post shared by Diljit showed that the film made 11.03 crore rupees worldwide in just two days after release. On the first day, the film earned 4.32 crore and on the second day, 6.71 crore rupees. These numbers include all the regions where the film was released, including Pakistan.

The trailer of Sardar Ji 3 was released just a few days before the movie came out. The film team faced strong criticism because Hania Aamir was in the cast.

After the Pahalgam attack in April, it was decided that Pakistani actors would not be included in films, and Indian artists would also not work with Pakistani projects.

However, while speaking to BBC Asian Network, Diljit Dosanjh explained that the film was shot months before the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sandor. He also supported the producers’ decision to release the film internationally.

On the other hand, major film industry federations wrote letters to actor Sunny Deol and the producers of the film Border 2, asking them to remove Diljit from the film.

Similarly, director Imtiaz Ali was also asked to replace Diljit in his upcoming movie.

But just a day ago, in an interview, Imtiaz Ali praised Diljit and called him a patriotic person.
