Pakistani drama actress and dancer Zara Noor Abbas said that she cannot speak Punjabi fluently and only knows how to use Punjabi swear words.
Zara started her acting career with the drama Taakey Ki Aayegi Baraat and later acted in many hit dramas like Khamoshi, Dhadkan, Ehd-e-Wafa, Phaans, and Badshah Begum.
These days, she appears less in dramas but is active on social media, where fans enjoy her dance videos.
Recently, Zara appeared with her mother Asma Abbas on a Punjabi TV show. While her mother spoke Punjabi fluently, Zara struggled to say even one full sentence in Punjabi.
Zara comes from a Punjabi background. Her mother Asma Abbas and aunt Bushra Ansari speak Punjabi well, and her father is also Punjabi. But Zara always spoke Urdu, so her Punjabi is weak.
Because of this, she had trouble speaking Punjabi on the show and got some criticism.
Zara admitted that she does not know how to speak Punjabi properly, only the swear words. She added that since she married into an Urdu-speaking family, she doesn’t get the chance to speak Punjabi.
When asked whether she could speak Punjabi better before marriage, Zara said that even before marriage, she did not know Punjabi well.
After Zara’s statement, she faced a lot of criticism on social media. One user commented why do Punjabi people feel so complex about their own language.
Some users felt that not knowing your mother tongue is nothing to be proud of.
One user said there is nothing to be proud of here, in fact, it is something to be ashamed of. The actress spent her whole life in Punjab and still cannot speak Punjabi This is too silly, and even if it is true, it shows her lack of confidence.
Zara Noor Abbas’s married life:
Zara married Asad Siddiqui in December 2017. Both stars had experienced failed marriages before and then chose each other for a second marriage.
Earlier, Asad married a girl named Maham in 2014. They also appeared together in morning shows but separated in 2017. Zara Noor also got separated from her first husband in 2017. She had married him in June 2016.
Fans appreciated how both found love again, and they often showed love and support for each other.
In November 2023, Zara announced her pregnancy, and on 27 March 2024, the star couple welcomed a baby girl and named her Noor Jehan.
