18 tourists swept away in Swat River flash floods
The tragic Swat River incident today left everyone in shock as 15 people drowned when a flash flood hit the area. So far, three people have been rescued, and two bodies have been recovered.

PDMA Issues High Alert for Swat Flood
After this heartbreaking Swat incident, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued a high alert due to the rising water in the Swat River.
Water levels at Khwaza Khela in the Swat River have now reached 77,782 cusecs, forcing authorities to announce an emergency warning in the area.
Because of heavy rains, other districts like Peshawar, Charsadda, and Nowshera are also on high alert. The PDMA has ordered steps to protect people, crops, homes, and animals.
Former Senator Demands FIR After Deadly Swat River Incident
Following the Swat River incident today, former Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan blamed the local administration for the tragedy and demanded an FIR.
He told PakShowbiz, “This is not just poor governance—it’s murderous governance. The administration ignored flood warnings and failed to act in time.”
He also accused officials of illegally making money from sand and gravel contracts in the Swat River, saying, “They’ve turned it into a river of death.”
The Senator said that victims kept begging for help for over an hour, but the district administration failed to respond.
Family in Sawat Blames Rescue Delay
The family of the drowned victims told PakShowbiz that they had called Rescue 1122 in time, but it took more than an hour for the team to arrive.
“When they came, they said they didn’t have equipment or even a boat,” the family said. “Another team came 15–20 minutes later but also had nothing to help with. Eventually, they left because the river flow was too strong.”
The family believes their loved ones could have been saved if help had arrived sooner. So far, there has been no official response from the local authorities.
Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Offers Condolences
