Uzma Bukhari condemns KP Government’s negligence after tourists drown in Swat River
Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has shared her sadness over the tragic Swat River incident today, where several tourists drowned during the sudden Swat flood.
In her statement, Bukhari expressed deep sympathy for the affected families. She strongly criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government, saying that tourists were left waiting for two hours without any help during the emergency.
No Timely Rescue, No Helicopter Sent, Says Bukhari
Bukhari said the Swat incident clearly shows that the KP government was not ready to deal with the disaster. She added that rescue teams and proper equipment—like helicopters—were not sent on time.
She blamed the KP government for not giving importance to public safety. “It seems their focus is more on political fights with the federal and Punjab governments instead of helping people during disasters like this,” she said.
Government’s Unpreparedness Exposed
Bukhari believes this Swat flood disaster has exposed the weak emergency system in Sawat. The delay in help and lack of equipment, she said, led to the loss of innocent lives.
Many are now questioning the government’s ability to handle such Swat floods, and people are demanding better safety systems along the Swat River to avoid such tragedies in the future.
