Bollywood’s senior actor Anupam Kher, who is waiting for the release of his upcoming directorial film Tanvi the Great, has also joined the list of Indian actors criticizing the film Sardaar Ji 3 starring Diljit Dosanjh and Pakistani actress Hania Aamir.
In a recent interview with NDTV, Anupam Kher spoke about the Sardaar Ji 3 controversy. He said that Diljit Dosanjh has the right to freedom of expression, but he should not hurt the feelings of his own people just for the sake of art.
Actor Anupam Kher said that Diljit has every right to make his own choices and he should be free to do so. But from his personal view, he wouldn’t have done what Diljit did.
While explaining, Anupam compared India to his family and Pakistan to a neighbor. He said, if someone harms my family, will I invite that person to perform at my house just because he sings well or plays the tabla nicely? He added that he can’t do that because he is not such a great person.
He further said, if someone slaps my father, I may not hit him back, but I also won’t allow him to come into my home. The same rules I follow at home, I follow for my country too.
At the end, Anupam Kher said he is not so big-hearted that he would allow harm to his family or watch his sister suffer just for the sake of art. But if others are okay with it, that is their personal choice.
This whole discussion started when singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh faced criticism in India after actress Hania Aamir from Pakistan was confirmed to be part of his upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3.
While talking about the matter, Diljit Dosanjh said that everything was fine when the film was made. They had shot it in February, but later the situation became tense. After the Pahalgam attack, the producer decided that since Pakistani artists are banned in India, the film cannot be released there. That is why they chose to release it overseas on 27th June.
