Bollywood’s renowned filmmaker and actor Anurag Kashyap has openly criticized the controversial film “The Kerala Story 2”, calling it mere propaganda.

He says that the makers of the film have prioritized profit over a serious subject and a strong story.

Kerala Story 2, which is being released almost three years after the first film, has once again become a source of debate and controversy. The project is produced by Vipul Amritlal Shah and directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh.

Speaking to the media at the Kochi airport, Kashyap said that the film is aimed at dividing the audience and does not show any meaningful or realistic story. Referring to a controversial scene in the film, he said that such scenes are far from reality and unnecessarily provocative. According to him, the purpose of such a presentation is only to gain attention and gain commercial benefits.

On the other hand, a legal front has also been opened against the film. Biologist Sridev Namboodiri has filed a petition in the Kerala High Court seeking a stay on the release of the film. The petition has taken the stand that some of the content of the film may affect social harmony.

Even before its release, the film has sparked fresh debates regarding artistic freedom, social responsibility and the use of sensitive topics.
