Senior actress Atiqa Odho has given a clarification about her controversial statements made in the show Kya Drama Hai. She said her comments were not meant to hurt anyone but to promote positive thinking and self-improvement.
Atiqa Odho is a co-host on Kya Drama Hai, where she shares her views on different aspects of dramas such as scenes, stories, and acting.
Recently, in an interview with the YouTube channel Beyond with Behjat, she explained her two viral statements from the show.
Earlier, she had spoken about arranged marriages and wedding nights. She said that we live in a conservative society where many boys and girls do not know each other before marriage, and on the wedding night, they have to go through a very personal experience with someone who is still a stranger to them.
She received a lot of criticism for this statement.
In the interview, Atiqa said she still stands by what she said earlier. She is still curious about how two strangers, who have never even met properly, feel after getting married.
She added that after she spoke on this topic, many people reached out to her on Instagram and shared their personal stories with her.
Atiqa made it clear that her comment was not meant in a negative way. She was honestly curious about the experience.
She also said that in our society, girls are often raised with the idea that they should not even talk to men, and then suddenly they are expected to become someone’s wife. That naturally creates curiosity in her about what couples go through on their first night together. Many people also shared their personal experiences with her about this.
Another comment of hers that went viral was about actor Ali Raza in the drama Dastak. She had criticized the open buttons on his shirt and his visible chest hair. She also received strong reactions on social media for this.
Clarifying this, Atiqa said that as a senior commentator on Kya Drama Hai, she only gives her honest opinion and never aims to personally attack anyone.
She explained that men appearing on screen with their chest showing does not seem appropriate to her, but that does not mean she wants to insult young actors.
Atiqa said that as seniors, they want to guide the new generation and help them improve. But unfortunately, their words are often taken the wrong way.
She added that her purpose is not to criticize but to help and encourage improvement.
