Bangladeshi YouTuber and actress Shanta Paul, who once won the Miss Asia Global title, has been arrested in India.

According to Indian media reports, Kolkata police raided a rented flat where they expected to find illegal items. Instead, they discovered a case of fake documents.

Shanta Paul, a 28-year-old citizen of Bangladesh who won the Miss Asia Global title in 2019, was arrested during the raid after fake Indian documents were found with her. These included two Aadhaar cards, a voter ID, a ration card, and even a PAN card.

Shanta Paul had previously worked as cabin crew for a Bangladeshi airline. Later, she moved to Kolkata where she started working as a food vlogger and model. She also ran a popular YouTube channel where she shared videos about street food tours and home cooking, with thousands of subscribers.

Officials claimed that Shanta came to India in late 2023 on a short-term business visa, but she stayed longer than allowed. They say she got fake documents through a secret network to hide her real identity and pretend to be a local. Police first became suspicious when she failed to show a valid visa during a routine check.

During further investigation, police also found not only the fake Aadhaar and voter cards, but also multiple Bangladeshi passports, her secondary school admit card from Dhaka, and her airline staff ID.
