In 2025, Bollywood has completely changed the concept of villains. Gone are the days of screaming, laughing villains and replaced by silent, mysterious, and mentally intimidating villains.
The credit for this change goes to talented actors like Jaideep Ahlawat, Riteish Deshmukh, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Akshaye Khanna, and Arjun Rampal, who have shocked the audience with their roles.
Last year, Arjun Kapoor paved the way for a new trend of villains by playing the dangerous Lanka in Singham Again, while R. Madhavan proved in Shaitan that the most terrifying villains are those who appear calm. These actors have shown how thin the line between good and evil can be.
The definition of a villain has changed in today’s cinema. Loud voices and fake acting have now been replaced by deep gazes, controlled intensity, and quiet menace, which make the characters more real and terrifying.
Akshay Khanna
In his role as Rahman Dakit in the film Dharandhar, Akshay Khanna proved why he is considered one of the best actors in Bollywood. His silence, strong screen presence and confident expressions made the character extremely terrifying. Without screaming, Akshay created a terror that lingers in the mind for a long time.
Arjun Rampal
In the same film, Arjun Rampal played the role of ISI Major Iqbal, also known as the “Angel of Death”. With his golden teeth, thick beard and steely expression, his presence left a deep impression on the audience. Arjun Rampal, once considered a romantic hero, redefined the modern Bollywood villain with this role.
Riteish Deshmukh
In Raid 2, Riteish Deshmukh breaks away from his comic image and plays a cold and calculating villain. Playing through power, influence, and intrigue, this character makes his confrontation with Ajay Devgn’s IRS officer all the more thrilling. Riteish proves that silence can also be a sign of fear.
Jaideep Ahlawat
Jaideep Ahlawat plays a brilliant and dangerous criminal in Jewel Thief. His performance is filled with intelligence, passio,n and unpredictability, which turns the film into a serious mental battle. His strong screen presence makes this heist drama special.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui
In the film Thamma, Nawazuddin Siddiqui once again plays a negative role. His villain is not just a symbol of evil, but a human being suffering from emotional complexity and internal conflict. It is this depth that makes this character scary and interesting at the same time.
