Andy Byron, the CEO of American technology company Astronomer, has resigned just two days after a video went viral showing him having an affair with a female employee.
In a statement, the company confirmed that Andy Byron had stepped down and the board of directors had accepted his resignation.
The company stated that Astronomer is committed to maintaining its values and culture, as it has been since the beginning. It said that the leadership is expected to uphold high standards of behavior and accountability, which were not maintained recently.
Astronomer also announced that the search for a new CEO has begun. In the meantime, the company’s co-founder and Chief Product Officer, Pete DeJoy, will serve as the interim CEO.
The company added that before this week, they were known as pioneers in the DataOps field, helping data teams with everything from modern analytics to AI production.
They said the company’s image may have changed overnight, but their product and service to customers remain the same. Astronomer will continue to do its best to help clients solve their complex data and AI problems.
