During which film did Salman and Aishwarya’s love blossom?
Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai were one of the most talked-about couples in the early 2000s.
In an interview, actress Smita Jaykar, who worked with them in the film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, revealed that their love blossomed during the shooting of that film and that their relationship had a positive impact on the film as well.

Recalling the days of shooting Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Smita Jaykar said that everyone on set was like a family, often playing antakshari together.
Speaking about Salman and Aishwarya’s relationship, she shared that they fell in love during the shoot. Their affair began and blossomed on the set, which greatly benefited the film. “There was a dreamy and romantic glow in their eyes, and love was visible on their faces,” she added, noting how beautifully it translated onscreen.
Smita also described Salman Khan as “a little mischievous.” She said, “I don’t know how he is now, but back then, he was definitely playful. He’s a very kind-hearted person with a big heart
She said, “I never saw him (Salman) angry on set. Who doesn’t get angry? But when it comes to celebrities, things are often exaggerated. If someone provokes you, getting angry is natural—we don’t always know what the other person did to cause that reaction.”
Speaking about Aishwarya Rai, she said, “Aishwarya is incredibly beautiful—even without makeup, she looked stunning. She was very humble and down-to-earth.”
The film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is a romantic drama that explores themes of love and sacrifice. Starring Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai, and Ajay Devgn in lead roles, the story revolves around Nandini, who falls in love with Sameer but later marries Vanraj (played by Ajay Devgn).
The film achieved tremendous success due to its heart-touching scenes, Ismail Darbar’s soulful music, and powerful performances.
The chemistry between Salman and Aishwarya, along with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s poetic storytelling, made the film a critical and commercial favorite. It went on to win several awards.
The love story between Aishwarya and Salman, which began during the making of this film, eventually faced strain. In 2002, Aishwarya confirmed the end of their relationship. She later moved on and married Abhishek Bachchan, while Salman Khan remains unmarried to this day.
