Senior actress Hina Khawaja Bayat reacted to Saba Qamar’s statement about Karachi, saying that using the phrase Astaghfirullah was not appropriate. She emphasized unity among people instead of creating differences between citizens.

A few days ago, during a podcast, Saba Qamar had said that she does not like Karachi, visits only for work, and returns to Islamabad as soon as her work ends. When asked if she ever thought about permanently moving to Karachi, she immediately replied Astaghfirullah, adding that she does not like the city.

After her statement, social media users and showbiz personalities criticized her, while some people also supported her.

Responding to the controversy, Hina Khawaja Bayat shared a video on her Instagram account. In the video, she said there is an old saying that one should think before speaking, because sometimes even a joke can hide a bitter truth or negative attitude.

Hina agreed that people were right to say Saba Qamar should not have spoken about Karachi in that way, as using Astaghfirullah hurt the feelings of Karachi’s residents.

She also said that many people around her make fun of Karachi’s accent, smell, and broken roads.

Hina shared that she has lived in Karachi her whole life, and it is her home. She has witnessed the city’s decline with her own eyes, but that does not mean she cannot appreciate Lahore’s beauty and greenery.

She said she praises Lahore but never mocks its smog or pollution, because putting someone down does not make you better.

According to her, creating divisions between cities has become an unnecessary conflict.

Hina Bayat said that Karachi is a city where people from all parts of the country live together, representing Pakistan’s diversity and culture.

She added that those who come to Karachi for work have the right to criticize the city, but their criticism should be constructive.

In her message, she said Pakistan is our home, and every city is like a different room in that home. No matter where we live, we should feel responsible for the entire country, not just our own city.

Hina also said that Karachi’s people have always spoken up for everyone in Pakistan, so people from other cities should also raise their voices for Karachi.
