The Mysterious Death of Humaira Asghar
On July 8, people were shocked to learn that Humaira’s decomposed body was found in her apartment in Defence Phase 6, Karachi, where she had been living alone for the past 7 years.
The body was discovered after the landlord took legal action due to unpaid rent. When court officers and police reached her apartment to get it vacated, no one answered the door. A bad smell was coming from inside. When police broke the door, they found Humaira dead inside the room.
Her body was in such a bad condition that it was impossible to recognize her. Some parts of her body were badly decomposed.
She was wearing a pink t-shirt and jeans. Many insects were around her body. The back of her head and her knee joints had opened up. One hand was completely separated from her body.
What Did the Post-Mortem Reveal?
After the body was found, her house and mobile phone were checked, and the body was sent to Jinnah Hospital for post-mortem. Before the report came out, the police estimated the body to be at least 2 weeks to 1 month old.
Later, shocking details came to light. SSP South Mahzoor Ali said that based on the investigation so far, it seems the body could be more than 6 months old.
Then the story took another painful turn when Humaira’s father refused to receive her body. He said they had broken ties with her 2 years ago and they would not come to Karachi to take her body. He said the police could do whatever they wanted with it.
After this, Humaira’s body was sent to the cold storage. Actress Sonya Hussyn stepped forward and announced she would take responsibility for her funeral.
Now, however, Humaira’s sister and brother-in-law have contacted the police and informed them that they are coming to Karachi from Lahore on July 10 to receive her body.
Why Was Humaira Missing and No One Knew?
Even now, her death remains a mystery. At first, it was called a natural death, then there were reports that she might have died from food poisoning. But the condition of her body and the fact that no one had contact with her for months raise many questions.
Humaira was active on social media, but suddenly disappeared. Her phone records show the last message was from an online taxi driver in September 2024. Her last contact with her landlord was also in 2024, and she last paid rent in May 2024. She had not paid the electricity bill, so KE disconnected her electricity in late October.
Her last social media post was on September 30, 2024. After that, she completely disappeared.
Why Did No One Care About Her Disappearance?
Although some social media pages posted about her missing status, neither her family nor anyone from the showbiz industry showed any concern.
There was no contact with her after October 2023. In February 2024, a post from an X (Twitter) account named Showbiz & News shared that Humaira had been missing for four months. It also said that her phone had been off and she had not been active on social media since October 7.

The post also included prayers for Humaira’s safety and mentioned that she had not posted anything on her Instagram or Facebook stories since October 7. People were truly hoping she was safe.
On the same day, Flant Pakistan Magazine also shared a post on Facebook about her disappearance.
The post clearly stated that Humaira Ali Chaudhry, who became famous in 2022 from the first season of the reality show Tamasha, has been missing since October 7, 2024, as reported by various sources.
It added that since October 7, 2024, Humaira had not posted anything on her Instagram or Facebook stories. Her WhatsApp last seen also showed the same date, which means she had not used her WhatsApp number after that day.
The post also said that, according to sources, Humaira’s mobile phone had been switched off for a long time. She had not been seen at any shooting or event in the past four months.
Someone also shared that they had worked with her last on October 2, 2024, which now seems to be her final professional project. They ended the message with prayers for her safety.

Showbiz Personalities React
Now that the name Humaira Asghar is everywhere in the news and on social media, celebrities from the showbiz world have also started posting messages, expressing grief over her death.
However, actress Alizeh Shah raised an important point. She said people are now posting about Humaira after her death.
Alizeh, through her Instagram story, showed her anger and wrote, stop using Humaira’s death for likes and headlines. If people truly cared, they would have shown this love and concern when she was alive and alone.
Alizeh Shah shared her sorrow and frustration, saying it breaks her heart to see this hypocrisy. Now people are posting Humaira’s pictures with long captions like they are so sad about her death. But when she was missing for a whole month, no one even asked where she was.
In the end, Alizeh prayed for Humaira and wrote, no one called, no one knocked on her door. May Allah give her the peace that this world failed to give her.
On the other side, Danish Maqsood, who has worked in the Pakistani media industry for almost 12 years in various roles, is now the Chief Editor and CEO of Applause Pakistan Magazine, an international publication.
In a Facebook post, he made a special request and wrote, can someone connect me to the location of Humaira Ali Chaudhry’s body? I want to cover all the expenses for her funeral and arrange her Janazah (funeral prayer).
Danish Maqsood said that Humaira had been missing since October 7, and both of his publications raised their voice about it. But sadly, big media outlets only share such news when an artist passes away.
Talking about his work experience with Humaira, he added that she had worked twice with their magazine. That’s why he feels it is his responsibility to take care of her final rites. He requested, please connect me with the concerned people. I want to do everything for her that she might never have asked for in her life.
Senior anchorperson Iqrar-ul-Hassan also expressed deep sadness over Humaira Asghar’s death. He also demanded a full investigation into the case.

Iqrar-ul-Hassan showed deep concern over the seriousness of the situation. He wrote that even the last body parts that usually decompose — like the back of the head and knees — had rotted.
