After many months, Humaira Asghar Ali’s burnt body, which was found in her home, was finally received by her brother Naveed Asghar.
It is important to note that along with her body, police also found her two mobile phones. Using the numbers saved in those phones, police contacted her brother and father.
But a sad turn came when her father said he had cut all ties with Humaira and had not spoken to her for the past two years. He also refused to come to Karachi to receive the body and said they could do whatever they wanted with it.
When this news came out in the media, people were shocked and saddened to see such cold behavior from close family.
After the news about the family distancing themselves, actress Sonya Hussyn, actor Yasir Hussain, social worker Mehr Bano Sethi, and a man named Danish Maqsood stepped forward and expressed their wish to take responsibility for Humaira’s funeral and burial.
It is unclear whether it was the media pressure or the love of a blood relation that finally made Humaira’s sister and brother-in-law contact Karachi police and agree to receive the body.
The police had clearly stated that only close blood relatives could be given the body.
Following this rule, Humaira’s brother and brother-in-law arrived in Karachi this evening and met with SSP South Mahzoor Ali and other officers.
An official letter was issued by the concerned police station, and the body was handed over to them.
SSP South Mahzoor Ali spoke to the media in his office and said that Humaira’s brother and brother-in-law came to Karachi. Legal process is ongoing, and the family wants to take the body to Lahore. They have not raised any doubts or suspicions at this time.
On the other hand, actress Sonya Hussyn also confirmed through an Instagram post that the body has now been handed over to the family.
The decision about when and where the actress will be buried will be made by her family.
Actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali was 42 years old. Her body was found on 8th July in a decayed state from a flat in the Ittehad Commercial area of Defence, Karachi.
Based on forensic and digital evidence, the police believe that she likely died in October 2024.
Post-mortem Report
According to the post-mortem report, Humaira’s death is estimated to have happened 8 to 10 months ago. All bones were found to be intact, but the flesh had decayed. The report says the cause of death appears to be natural.
Her body was received at the hospital on 8th July 2025 at 6:25 PM. The post-mortem started at 8:15 PM and ended at 10:00 PM.
The report states that she was wearing black trousers and a maroon T-shirt. Due to the advanced stage of decomposition, some parts of her body had no muscles, and the skin had become mummified. The bones had become very brittle.
Her remains were found when a court officer went to the apartment on Tuesday to vacate it, after the landlord filed a complaint.
