The Islamic month of Muharram is currently being observed, and during this time, Shia Muslims organize religious gatherings, recite elegies, and mourn the tragedy of Karbala. In this context, a screenshot of actor Imran Abbas is going viral, where he is seen reacting strongly to a user’s comment about religion.
Muslims observe Muharram with great respect and devotion. It holds importance in Islamic history and across other religions too. Every year, Imran Abbas shares messages encouraging people to respect the sanctity of this month.
Recently, when the film Sardaar Ji 3 starring Diljit Dosanjh and Hania Aamir was released on the first of Muharram, Imran Abbas expressed his disappointment. He wrote that he had never seen films being released in Pakistan on the first day of Muharram. He said this was not just a Shia or Sunni issue — some months and dates are sacred for all Muslims. He also recalled how Pakistan Television (PTV) used to avoid music during Muharram, but now we see music and dance shows even on the 9th of Muharram.
Earlier, in another post, he criticized TV channels for not respecting Muharram anymore. He mentioned that during PTV’s time, the moment Muharram started, all music was stopped. Even the news had no musical intro. People wouldn’t dare to play songs during those days. No matter how big the celebration was, people would pause it out of respect for Muharram.
Now again, a screenshot is circulating on social media showing a conversation between Imran Abbas and a user on a religious topic.
On X (formerly Twitter), a user named Atif posted that the word Ya should be used only for Allah and one should not call anyone else using Ya.
Imran Abbas responded strongly and replied in the comments that in Arabic, Ya is simply a way to call or address someone.
