Pakistani director Saifi Hassan said that despite strict restrictions in Iran the film industry has made surprising progress where great films are being made even with dupatta and burqa.

Speaking in a private TV morning show Saifi Hassan said that in Iran there are many limits on media but still Iranian cinema has built its identity worldwide.

He said that actors in Iran perform well even while wearing dupatta and burqa and still amazing films are created. He compared this with the time of Zia ul Haq in Pakistan when acting was also done with dupatta but Iran is still growing in such an environment.

According to the director Pakistan also produces quality work but since a large amount of content is made the good work often does not get noticed.

Saifi Hassan further said that production houses usually make the final decision about lead roles because they want profit from their projects but they do take input from directors as well.

He also made it clear that he does not work on dramas or projects that show backward thinking even if producers criticize him for it.
