After the death of actress and model Humaira Asghar and the discovery of her body in her flat months later, women from the showbiz industry created a WhatsApp group to stay in touch and check on each other.

In an interview with international media group Independent Urdu, actress Yashma Gill said the purpose of the group is to check on one another and ensure quick help in difficult times.

The group is called Connectivity 101 and, according to recent updates, it now has around 400 women from the entertainment industry. These include not only actresses but also directors, producers, makeup artists, and women from other technical fields.

The group was named by actress Zhalay Sarhadi. The idea was presented by Zhalay along with Yashma Gill, Sonya Hussyn, and Mansha Pasha. However, they say it is a collective effort and not owned by any one person.

Yashma explained that the idea came after Humaira Asghar’s death, when they realized that people in the industry, especially women, are often so busy that they lose contact not just with their families but also with fellow artists.

She said that staying connected is important not only in happy moments but also during difficult times.

The group has introduced a polling system where members can mark their presence or let others know if they will be unavailable for a few days. If someone is inactive for too long, the group tries to reach them directly or through a close friend.

Yashma clarified that this is not an NGO or organization but simply a way to stay connected. Every member is added through a trusted reference. In the beginning, there were concerns about whether sharing everyone’s numbers in one group would be safe or not.

Some basic rules were made for the group. Only necessary messages should be shared, and if someone wants to talk privately with a member, they should be careful and respectful, as not everyone knows each other personally.

She also shared that they plan to move Connectivity 101 to Facebook soon for better communication. Sonya Hussyn has been given the responsibility to manage it and keep the group safe and reliable.

Yashma said the biggest challenge is to make sure every member benefits from the group and that no negativity enters. They try to avoid unnecessary content and want to keep the group only for women working in showbiz.

Humaira Asghar’s Death

On July 8, the decayed body of the actress and model was found after a court sent a bailiff to vacate her flat based on the landlord’s legal request.

When the door was forced open, the scene shocked everyone. Her body was lying on the floor, surrounded by insects, and her clothes were in very poor condition.

At first, it was believed she had died about a month earlier, but later it was revealed that she had passed away 9 to 10 months ago.

After her brother received the body, she was buried on July 11 in Model Town Graveyard, Lahore.
