Jannat Mirza’s ramp walk at Bridal Couture Week left social media users disappointed. Many users called Jannat’s walk a “sleep walk” and a “horror walk.” One user sarcastically wrote that now she might say she couldn’t walk properly due to a fever. Another comment said that it looked like an Egyptian mummy walking the ramp.
Several social media users said that Jannat Mirza should have confined herself to TikTok instead of the ramp, while some also criticized renowned designer HSY and questioned why professional models were ignored for the show.
Renowned fashion designer and critic Dr. Ijaz Waris, while comparing the ramp walks of the past and the present, said that the earlier ramp walks were grand, dignified, and glamorous, while today’s ramp walks mostly feel like auditions.
Senior actress and model Iffat Omar also criticized the unprofessional situation seen at Bridal Couture Week. She said that the dresses should be perfectly fitted to the models and should be such that they do not have to be carried while walking, as holding a model’s dress on the ramp is against professional norms.
Although Jannat Mirza’s ramp walk was brief, the reaction on social media was long and harsh, once again sparking a debate about where the role of influencers and professional models in fashion shows should be limited.
