According to Indian media reports, Jaya Bachchan said during an interview at the We Da Women event, when asked, that the concept of marriage has become outdated in today’s era and also advised that her granddaughter Navya Navel Nanda, who will turn 28 in a week, should not get married.
She said that today’s young women know how to raise children better and today’s children are becoming more intelligent than ever.
Jaya Bachchan said that she feels that marriage is an old concept and she does not want her granddaughter Navya Navel Nanda to get married.
According to the report, when Jaya Bachchan was asked about the legality of marriage, she said nonchalantly, “Just enjoy life.” At the same time, she was asked if she would mind if her granddaughter Navya Nanda quit her career after marriage like her, to which she replied, “I don’t want Navya to get married.”
When Jaya Bachchan was asked to explain why she considers marriage an old concept, she claimed that today’s children can surpass others in every matter. For her, marriage is like a sweet dish and likened marriage to Delhi’s laddoos, saying, “If you eat it, you will get into trouble, and if you don’t eat it, you will regret it.”
It should be noted that 27-year-old Navya Naveli Nanda has founded a tech platform called Ara Health. She is the granddaughter of Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan and the niece of Abhishek. Her brother Agastya Nanda entered the world of acting a year ago.
Navya Naveli Nanda’s father Nikhil Nanda is from Delhi and is an industrialist. Navya graduated from the US in 2020 and is pursuing an MBA from a university in India.
