The film Love Guru, starring Humayun Saeed and Mahira Khan in lead roles, was released worldwide on June 6 during Eid-ul-Adha.
In just the first three days, the film earned a record 150 million rupees. Now, after 16 days, it has made a total of 700 million rupees in business.
This mega-budget film has earned three times more than its original budget in just 16 days, setting a new record. Most of the earnings came from Pakistan.
By June 22, Love Guru had earned 370 million rupees in Pakistan and 330 million rupees from overseas.
The film earned the most money abroad in the UK, where it even beat the Indian movie Housefull 5. In just 9 days, Love Guru earned 75,000 pounds in the UK.
Its total worldwide earnings have now reached 700 million rupees, and it looks like the film may soon cross the 1 billion rupees (100 crore) mark.
Earlier, during the film’s promotion, Humayun Saeed had said that the film cost 250 million rupees to make, and they were hoping to earn 500 million rupees.
