Roma Riaz who is representing Pakistan at the Miss Universe competition in Thailand gave a strong reply to people who criticized her skin color.
She will take part in the Miss Universe world competition that will be held in Thailand on November 21.
Miss Universe Pakistan shared a video on Instagram where she responded to the people who made fun of her skin tone.
She said that such comments usually come from colorism which teaches people to admire fair skin and forget their real roots.
Roma Riaz said that she is proud of her roots her values and every shade of her skin because that makes her Pakistani.
She also said that her skin color is like the women who built our homes raised families and kept love for their country in their hearts.
Roma Riaz added that she proudly represents Pakistan and also stands for a new generation of South Asian women who do not fit into narrow beauty standards.
In a special message for Pakistanis in Urdu she asked why people hate their own people.
She said that she tells the world that the people of Pakistan are the most beautiful thing about the country but the world wonders why those same people spread negative comments about her.
Roma Riaz also said that she is trying her best to show a positive image of Pakistan to the world and she hopes people will not let her efforts go to waste.
She said that everyone has the right to share their opinion but if you have nothing good to say then please stay silent for the sake of Pakistan’s respect.
She added that all Pakistani girls who are judged for their skin tone bravery or for being different should proudly represent Pakistan as much as they can.
