Naseeruddin Shah takes a U-turn after supporting Diljit.
Veteran Indian actor Naseeruddin Shah took a U-turn after openly supporting actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh, who was being criticized for working with Hania Aamir in the film Sardaar Ji 3.
It is worth mentioning that the trailer of Sardaar Ji 3 was shared by Diljit Dosanjh on the photo and video sharing platform Instagram on June 21.
Seeing actress Hania Aamir in the trailer brought immense joy to Pakistani fans, while on the other hand, many Indians were furious.
The reason behind this reaction was the recent Pahalgam attack in Indian-occupied Kashmir, which India blamed on Pakistan. In response, India imposed a ban on Pakistani artists.
Due to the intense tension between the two countries, Fawad Khan’s Bollywood film Abeer Gulal was shelved, and Hania’s role in the Indian Punjabi film also seemed uncertain.
However, the trailer of Sardaar Ji 3 surprised audiences in both India and Pakistan.
Since then, Diljit Dosanjh has faced backlash in India for working with a Pakistani actress. There have even been calls to boycott him and ban his work.
While Diljit is facing strong opposition from the Indian film federation and some citizens, several prominent artists have openly supported him — including Javed Akhtar, Naseeruddin Shah, and Imtiaz Ali.
Naseeruddin Shah, in a Facebook post about Sardaar Ji 3, wrote:
“I stand firmly with Diljit. The usual party was just waiting for a chance to launch their filthy agenda. They think they’ve succeeded in their mission. But Diljit is not responsible for the film’s casting — that is the director’s job.

He further wrote, “But no one even knows who the director is, while everyone knows Diljit. Diljit agreed to work with this cast because his mind is not filled with hate. These petty people want the people of Pakistan and India to be completely disconnected from each other. Some of my relatives and close friends are from Pakistan, and no one can stop me from meeting them or sending them love.
The senior actor also faced strong criticism from social media users for supporting Diljit.
Perhaps due to this backlash, he took a U-turn on his decision to support Diljit and has now deleted the post from his Facebook account.
