Indian Punjabi actress Neeru Bajwa has unfollowed Pakistani superstar Hania Aamir on Instagram. Not only that, she also deleted all the promotional posts related to the film Sardaar Ji 3.
Sardaar Ji 3 has become a highly discussed film worldwide because it features both Indian and Pakistani actors. These two countries had a brief war in May this year, but later a ceasefire was announced to avoid further damage.
The film was shot before the war, but many Indians demanded that the film should either not be released or be re-shot with a different Indian actress instead of Hania Aamir.
Amidst these demands, the trailer of Sardaar Ji 3 was released on 22 June, showing Hania Aamir in a prominent role. After the trailer release, not only the Indian public but also some celebrities became angry. They started a boycott campaign against the film and against Diljit Dosanjh.
Despite the backlash, Diljit Dosanjh and the filmmakers ignored the boycott and showed excitement for the film’s release, which is set for 27 June — but only in Pakistan and overseas, not in India.
While the entire team stood united in support of the film, on 26 June — just one day before the release — news spread on social media that Neeru Bajwa had unfollowed Hania Aamir on Instagram. She also deleted all Sardaar Ji 3 promotional content from her account.
Earlier, Neeru had even appeared with Diljit in a BBC Urdu interview to promote the film, and she did not say anything negative about Hania or the film’s release during that interview.
Her sudden action has surprised her Pakistani fans, while many Indians have started praising her.
Now, instead of promoting Sardaar Ji 3, Neeru Bajwa is seen promoting her own film, Son of Sardaar 2. She even shared its trailer on her Instagram story.
Many people are guessing the reasons behind her behavior. Some say she is jealous because Hania Aamir is getting more attention than her. Others believe that Neeru is scared of the boycott and is only pretending to unfollow Hania to avoid being targeted by Indian critics.
Even though Neeru has unfollowed Hania, the Pakistani actress is still following Neeru on Instagram.
