Are Diljit Dosanjhs social media handles banned in India
After tensions between Pakistan and India, and despite the ban on Pakistani artists in India, the presence of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in Indian actor Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3 has become a major issue for him.
With only a few hours left until the release of Sardaar Ji 3, various institutions in the Indian film industry have demanded that Diljit Dosanjh’s social media accounts be immediately suspended in India.
According to Indian media, this demand has arisen due to the controversy surrounding the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the soon-to-be-released film Sardaar Ji 3, which has triggered strong backlash in India.
Recently, organizations like the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) have written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling for strict action against Diljit Dosanjh.
In their letters, the organizations stated that Diljit Dosanjh working with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir after the Pahalgam attack is an insult to the national sentiments of Indians.
The letter demands that all of Diljit Dosanjh’s social media accounts be banned in India, all his songs and films be removed from YouTube, Spotify, JioSaavn, and OTT platforms, and that a permanent ban be placed on his concerts and public performances in India.
What is the controversy?
Right after the trailer of the film Sardaar Ji 3 was released Diljit Dosanjh faced intense criticism from the Indian public as there is a ban on Pakistani artists working in India following the Pahalgam attack
This decision was made after the Pahalgam terrorist attack which resulted in the deaths of 26 tourists and the social media accounts of several Pakistani celebrities were also blocked in India
The release of the trailer sparked an uproar in India prompting the film’s producer to speak to Indian media on 24 June stating that the film was shot long before the Pahalgam attack and no Pakistani artist was signed or worked with after that incident
The producers further said that “we stand united with India and our fellow countrymen during this sensitive time, and keeping this in mind, we had decided not to release the film or any of its promotional material in India until the situation becomes more favorable.”
It is important to note that the film Sardaar Ji 3 will be released on 27 June 2025 in Pakistan and overseas, excluding India.
