Madan Gopal, a singer from Nepal, has paid a wonderful tribute to the famous Pakistani singer known as the “Voice of the Soil,” Reshma, by singing her world-renowned song in his own unique style.
According to Express News, during the vibrant atmosphere of the ongoing World Culture Festival in Karachi, there came a special moment when Nepali singer Madan Gopal performed Reshma’s iconic song “Lambi Judai” as a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Pakistani artist.
This is Madan Gopal’s second performance at the World Culture Festival in Karachi. He said that the love and warmth of the Pakistani people brought him back to perform again.
He shared that once, while hiking in the mountains about 15 kilometers from Kathmandu, surrounded by forests, strong winds, and greenery, he suddenly felt as if Reshma Ji’s song came down to him from the sky. That’s when he decided that he would come to Pakistan and perform this song as a tribute.

He said that a few months before this year’s World Culture Festival, he felt a strong desire to pay tribute to the Voice of the Soil, Reshma Ji. He added his own musical composition to her famous song “Lambi Judai” and presented it as a medley.
During his musical show, Madan Gopal also performed a Nepali folk song composed by Pakistani musician Imad Rehman. The song was a beautiful blend of Urdu and Nepali languages.
He shared that in Nepal, people call him a musical scholar. Based on his study and experience, he believes there are two kinds of singers — one who are trained, and the others who are singers of the soil.
Explaining the term singers of the soil, he said it means singing on natural notes — singing that comes straight from the heart without learning the formal grammar of music.
During his performance of “Lambi Judai,” Madan was joined by the emerging Pakistani singer Mah Rukh.
Mah Rukh said that Reshma Ji is our legendary artist, and it’s almost impossible to sing like her. However, she made a humble effort and also presented her own culture through the performance.
The singer further said that performing with the Nepali artist was a wonderful experience, and she really enjoyed it.
It is worth mentioning that in the 1980s, well-known Indian film director Subhash Ghai included Reshma’s song “Lambi Judai” in his film “Hero.” The song became extremely popular not only in Pakistan but also in India, and it is still loved by people today.
After this song’s success, Reshma quickly rose to become one of the top singers of the subcontinent and gained international fame. She performed in many countries around the world, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and India.
