One night, one dream – Wali’s success or the story’s weakness?
The popular drama Parwaresh is showing the growing gap, emotional struggles, and social pressure between today’s youth (Gen Z) and their parents in a sensitive way. The story is not only interesting for young viewers but also opens the door for important discussions.
The main characters, Wali and Maya, played by talented actors Samar Jafri and Aina Asif, appear for the medical entry test (MDCAT) and succeed.
However, in episode 11, it was shown that Wali passed the exam after studying for just one night. This made many viewers upset, and they shared their criticism on social media.
In Pakistan, the MDCAT is considered a very tough and competitive exam. Students prepare for it with hard work over a long time.
Showing Wali’s success without any clear effort felt unrealistic and disappointing for many viewers.
One student commented on social media saying, I’m a repeater myself, and believe me, you can’t pass MDCAT with just one night’s study. Showing this is disrespectful to students who work for years to prepare for it.
Similarly, showing Maya reading a complicated book like Gray’s Anatomy before even getting admission to medical college also felt unreasonable.
Another viewer said, Studying Gray’s Anatomy while preparing for MDCAT is far from reality. Don’t think viewers are that naive.
Many people demanded that creators should do proper research before showing sensitive and educational topics like this.
Unrealistic scenes not only harm the story’s credibility but also ignore the hard work and sacrifices of real-life students.
A viewer shared their opinion saying, This scene was not only unbelievable but unfair to those students who work day and night.
Even though Parwaresh is presenting many social issues in a beautiful way, the way episode 11 showed MDCAT success does not match the quality of the story. People hope that in future episodes, the makers will show this topic in a more realistic way.
The drama Parwaresh airs every week on ARY Digital. It tries to show the dreams, struggles, and feelings of Gen Z in a powerful way, and to make it even stronger, it is important to present facts correctly.
