On the request of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), a local court in Islamabad has ordered the blocking of 27 well-known YouTube channels.
Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah heard the case related to FIA’s request to block the channels. The court said that FIA started an inquiry on June 2 about content that was said to be against the state.
The court mentioned that the evidence provided by FIA was satisfactory, and legal action can be taken based on that.
In a written order of two pages, the court ordered several popular YouTube channels, including those run by journalists, to be blocked.
The court directed YouTube’s local officer to block these 27 channels. The channels include:
Siddique Jan, Habib Akram, Matiullah Jan, Orya Maqbool Jan, Sajid Gondal, Asad Toor Uncensored, Daily Qudrat, Sabir Shakir, Imran Riaz Khan, Wajahat Saeed Khan YouTube, Ahmad Noorani YouTube, Real Entertainment TV, Charsadda Journalist, Nazar Chohan YouTube, Imran Khan, Aftab Iqbal, Naila Pakistan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Naya Pakistan, Rana Azeer Speak, Sabih Kazmi, Arzoo Kazmi, Haider Mehdi, Abdul Qadir, Moeed Pirzada YouTube, Makhdoom Shahabuddin, and Shayan Ali YouTube.
