Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 6 wickets to win tri-series

Pakistan achieved the target of 115 runs in the 19th over for the loss of 4 wickets in the match played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Babar Azam was the standout for Pakistan with an unbeaten 37. Saim Ayub scored 36, Sahibzada Farhan scored 23, captain Salman Agha scored 14 and Fakhar Zaman scored 3 runs.

Mohammad Nawaz remained unbeaten on 3 runs.

Pravan Ratnayake took 2 wickets for Sri Lanka. Ishan Malinga and Winandu Hasaranga took 1 wicket each.

Earlier, Sri Lanka, batting first at the invitation of Pakistan, were bowled out for 114 runs in the 20th over.

Sri Lanka did not get off to a good start, after one out, a partnership of 64 runs was established, which was broken as soon as the batting line of the Lankan team turned out to be a pile of sand and 7 players could only score 16 runs.

When Sri Lanka opened the batting, Shaheen Afridi sent Patham Nissanka to the pavilion on a total score of 20 for 11.

After this, Mohammad Nawaz broke the 64-run partnership of the Sri Lankan batsmen and sent Kusal Mendis to the pavilion on an individual score of 14 and a total score of 84.

After this, Saim Ayub dealt a blow to the Sri Lankan team by taking the big wicket of Kamil Mishra. Mishra played a brilliant innings of 59 runs off 47 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 2 fours, thus the third wicket also fell on 98 runs.

Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Nawaz took three wickets each, while Abrar Ahmed took two, Saim Ayub and Salman Mirza took one wicket each. Kamil Mishra was the standout batsman with 59 runs, while 8 Sri Lankan players could not even reach double figures.

Pakistan’s Mohammad Nawaz was adjudged the best player of the match and the series.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Sri Lankan High Commissioner Fred Srivirathne were present at the final. Before the match, players from both teams observed a minute’s silence in memory of the loss of lives due to torrential rains in Sri Lanka.
