Pakistani celebrities’ accounts blocked again India compared to an angry ex-girlfriend
After a few Pakistani celebrities’ Instagram accounts were restored in India, they were blocked again — and this time, the reason was also shared.
Earlier this year, after the Pahalgam attack and a war-like situation in May, the Indian government imposed several restrictions. Due to this, not only Pakistani celebrities but also Pakistani content was blocked in India.
First, the Indian government banned all Pakistani entertainment YouTube channels. This upset many Indian viewers who loved watching Pakistani dramas.
Later, Instagram accounts of several Pakistani stars were also blocked in India. Because of this, Indian users could not view their favorite celebrities’ accounts without using a VPN.
These bans were placed very publicly, but the unblocking was done quietly. Still, people noticed the change, and the news spread fast.
Some of the celebrities whose accounts became available again in India included Danish Taimoor, Ahad Raza Mir, Mawra Hocane, and Yumna Zaidi.
Due to the earlier ban, the YouTube views of Pakistani dramas dropped. But after the ban was lifted, ongoing shows like Parwarish, Mann Mast Malang, and Dayan are expected to gain more views.
Although the Indian government quietly unblocked some accounts, Indian fans of Pakistani dramas were happy. However, when these accounts were blocked again just 24 hours later on July 2, people reacted strongly on social media.
Indian media reported that the unblocking happened due to a technical glitch. Because of that, some accounts were unblocked by mistake and then blocked again.
Some people in India were happy during the brief unblocking, while others still opposed it. But when the accounts were blocked again, many users got angry.
One Indian user wrote that their authorities are treating this like a joke, saying these actions do not affect the lives of those Pakistani celebrities or Pakistan itself.
Another user said the decision to follow someone should be left to the public and mentioned that they can use a VPN anyway.
Someone else noted that until 3 PM that day, the Pakistani YouTube channels were accessible.
One user sarcastically said India is acting like an upset girlfriend who keeps blocking and unblocking her boyfriend.
A Pakistani user also commented, saying the accounts were unblocked due to a glitch, but what about the unblocking of YouTube channels — was that a glitch too?
