Pakistan’s recently released blockbuster film Deemak won the Best Editing award at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Film Festival 2025, while the film Nayab received the Special Jury Award.
The SCO Film Festival was held for five days in the Yangzhou district of China. Director Rafay Rashdi and actress Sonya Hussyn received the Best Editing award for Deemak. Director Umair Nasir Ali and actor Usama Khan received the Special Jury Award for the film Nayab.
The Pakistani delegation at the festival included Chairman of Pakistan Film Producers Association Shehzad Rafique (also a jury member), film distributor Nadeem Mandviwalla, Irfan Malik, Minister of State for Education Wajiha Qamar, DG DEMP Samina Farzeen, Manzoor Ali from the Pakistan Embassy in China, Nayab’s director Umair Nasir Ali, producer Romina Umair, Noman Khan, and actor Usama Khan.
It is worth mentioning that the lead roles in the film Deemak were played by Faisal Quraishi, Sonya Hussyn, and Samina Peerzada, while the lead actors in Nayab were Yumna Zaidi and Usama Khan.
