Famous Indian actor Paresh Rawal has revealed that even India’s National Awards are not completely free from lobbying. In a recent podcast, he said that just like the Oscars, where awards are sometimes influenced or bought through connections, similar things also happen with India’s National Awards.
The actor, who won a National Award in 1993, said that although lobbying is less in these awards, they are still considered more respectable than other film awards.
According to him, big awards around the world, including the Oscars, often depend on networking and personal relationships. He added that big parties are even held for lobbying.
Paresh Rawal also said that he values appreciation from directors and writers more than any award. For him, the biggest honor is when his work inspires the creative team.
