Bollywood’s famous comedian Rajpal Yadav has been released from Tihar Jail after being granted interim bail by the Delhi High Court.

After his release from jail, Rajpal Yadav expressed his emotions for the first time in a conversation with the media and thanked his fans and the court.

Rajpal Yadav had to serve time in jail in connection with a cheque bounce and loan dispute of about 9 crore Indian rupees, in which the actor surrendered himself to Tihar Jail after appearing in court in December 2025.

After hearing the case against him, the court has granted him interim bail till March 18, 2026, under which he has been allowed to remain free until the verdict of the full case is heard.

After his release, Rajpal Yadav said in a conversation with the media that his 30-year film career will be completed in 2027, and he intends to work with people.

He said that during this film career, the entire country and Bollywood were with him, due to which he was able to work in about 200 to 250 films. The actor said, “If I have faced any accusation, I will also answer it and will appear fully in court.”

While granting interim bail, the court has also attached some financial and legal conditions to Rajpal Yadav, such as surrendering his passport to the court and making it necessary to attend the next hearing in person or through video link. The court has ordered that this bail be maintained till March 18, 2026, when the remaining payment of the amount as a plaintiff or the final decision of the dispute will be heard.

It may be recalled that this case started with a loan of Rs 5 crore taken in 2010 to finance Rajpal Yadav’s film “Ata, Pata, Lapta”, after which he failed to repay this amount and faced legal action under cheque bounce. After a long legal battle in the courts, the interest on this amount and further liabilities increased to a total of Rs 9 crore.

Bollywood artists also expressed solidarity with Rajpal Yadav in this difficult time. Several colleagues including renowned actor Sonu Sood encouraged him and offered help, which reduced his difficulties.

Court proceedings are now ongoing, but the actor’s release has given him hope of returning to the film front and has also given him the opportunity to resolve legal matters, under which he will be able to speak out in front of his fans.
