Saeeda Jabbar Khattak questions why force and abuse are shown as romance in dramas and accepted by society

Saheefa Jabbar Khattak has said that for the sake of ratings, dramas are showing serious issues like abuse and oppression in a romantic way.

Recently, she shared an Instagram story where she strongly criticized how Pakistani dramas show unrealistic images of women and turn serious issues into love stories.

She questioned if women in Pakistani homes really wear sarees every day or do heavy makeup daily. She asked why dramas even show such things when most of the population belongs to the lower or middle class where expensive clothes are not a part of daily life.

Saheefa said that our dramas are showing a fake lifestyle as if every woman lives like that.

She also criticized the repeated themes in dramas like mother-in-law and daughter-in-law fights, a helpless woman fighting for her respect, and turning abuse into romance.

She asked why drama stories have become so similar. Why does every girl have to explain her respect? Why is every mother-in-law shown being cruel? Why are most relationships shown as being forced or abusive?

According to her, forced marriages, unwanted relationships, and husbands being cruel to their wives are often shown in a way that makes them look like part of love or something normal and acceptable.

She ended by asking why all this is happening. Just for ratings? Or are we actually making our society worse?
