Sana Yusuf murder case: Court grants 14-day judicial remand for the accused
During the hearing of Pakistani TikToker Sana Yusuf’s murder case, the court sent the accused to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.
The brutal murder of 17-year-old TikToker Sana Yusuf shocked everyone, and many people on social media are demanding that her killer be given the death penalty.
The murder happened on the evening of June 2. The next day, on June 3, police arrested the suspected killer from Faisalabad. He claimed to be her friend, but IG Islamabad Ali Nasir Rizvi said that Umar Hayat wanted to be friends with Sana, but she had refused him many times.
A case under the murder section was registered at Sumbal Police Station in Islamabad against 22-year-old Umar Hayat. Today, he was presented in the court of Duty Judicial Magistrate Ahmed Shehzad Gondal.
The accused had a black cloth over his face, and he was brought into the courtroom without removing it.
On June 4, when the hearing began, the magistrate asked where the prosecutor was. He said prosecutors usually do not attend, but they show up when it is a high-profile case.
When the court was informed that both the concerned prosecutor and the district prosecutor were absent, the magistrate immediately called the district prosecutor to appear in court.
The duty prosecutor told the court that the regular prosecutor was on leave. The magistrate then said the case would move forward only after the district prosecutor arrives.
The court paused the hearing until the district prosecutor came, and during that break, the accused Umar Hayat was taken back to the vehicle.
After the break, when the hearing restarted, Magistrate Ahmed Shehzad approved the investigation officer’s request for an identity parade of the accused. The court then ordered that Umar Hayat be sent to jail for 14 days under judicial remand.
