Sholay’s jailer actor passes away

Bollywood legendary actor Asrani who was loved for his memorable role as the jailer in the super hit film Sholay has passed away at the age of 83

According to Indian media he had been unwell for some months and passed away during treatment at a hospital in Mumbai

His death has saddened millions of fans around the world and the entire Indian film industry

Bollywood stars and directors called his death an irreparable loss and paid tribute to his art personality and comic acting

Asrani played the jailer in the 1975 film Sholay which is still remembered as one of the most unique roles in film history

His famous dialogue “Hum angrezon ke zamane ke jailer hain” became unforgettable

His speaking style his way of twisting his mustache and his funny expressions made him very popular among the public

Asrani was born in 1940 in Jaipur Rajasthan and started his film career in 1960 working in more than 300 films

Besides Sholay his popular films include Aap Ki Kasam Judaai Chhoti Bahu Namak Haraam Chupke Chupke and Ab Tak Chhuppe Rahe

He worked in every type of role but gained fame as a comedian and a villain His unique humor dialogue delivery and acting through his eyes were loved by everyone
