India’s famous pop singer Alisha Chinai, also known as the Madonna of India, has made shocking revelations that have exposed the dark side of Bollywood.
According to Indian media, Alisha Chinai had accused music composer Anu Malik of sexual harassment in 1996. However, instead of supporting her, the film industry turned against her.
In a recent interview, Alisha said that when she decided to stand up against the harassment, the entire industry isolated her and she stopped getting work.
She added that her own industry left her alone, and her career almost ended. This showed how a few powerful people control the industry.
Alisha also revealed that she did not want to continue the case against Anu Malik, but her husband and manager Rajesh insisted that it was important to fight for justice.
Encouraged by them, she decided to go ahead with the case, but once the matter reached the media, people turned against her instead.
She said that unfortunately, it was a male-dominated world at that time, so the case was dismissed. Later, during the #MeToo movement, when several women came forward with similar complaints against Anu Malik, she openly supported them.
Alisha said that although no one supported her back then, times have changed now — women have more rights and their voices are being heard.
Interestingly, despite the past controversy, Alisha Chinai and Anu Malik later worked together in the 2003 film Ishq Vishk and also appeared as judges on Indian Idol.
Alisha said that Anu Malik personally apologized to her and admitted that he was wrong.
