Six more lives lost due to hunger caused by Israel in Gaza and 22 more Palestinians martyred in firing
In Gaza, six more people have died due to hunger caused by Israel, and 22 more Palestinians have been killed by Israeli gunfire. Among them were 16 people who were only trying to get aid. The First Minister of Scotland has called the situation in Gaza a clear case of genocide.
According to Al Jazeera, the Palestinian Health Ministry reported that in the past 24 hours, six adults died in hospitals in Gaza because of hunger and lack of food.
With these new deaths, the total number of Palestinians who have died from hunger and malnutrition since the war began has reached 175. This includes 93 children.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army continues to fire on unarmed Palestinians who gather around the aid centers of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which is run with the help of the US and Israel.
A source at Al-Awda Hospital told Al Jazeera Arabic that at least four people were killed and many injured by Israeli firing near an aid center in central Gaza.
Emergency and ambulance sources said that nine more people were killed by Israeli gunfire near aid centers in the northern area of Rafah, southern Gaza.
Only 36 aid trucks entered Gaza on Saturday
Gaza’s official media office said that only 36 aid trucks entered Gaza on Saturday. This is far less than the 500 to 600 trucks the UN says are needed daily to meet basic needs.
The office added that most of the trucks were looted before the supplies could be properly distributed. They blamed Israel for this chaos, saying it was done in a planned and deliberate way.
In the statement, it was said that while the world remains shamefully silent, famine is destroying the children of Gaza. They called for the immediate opening of border crossings and the proper delivery of food and baby formula.
According to Al Jazeera’s reporter Hind Khoudary in Gaza, Israel’s claims about humanitarian pauses and allowing more aid into Gaza are not true. The ground reality is different.
Palestinians say there has been no real change. Many days have passed but only a few trucks have entered. These trucks are not reaching homes or aid centers, and community kitchens for fresh food remain closed.
People in Gaza are dying every day not just because of airstrikes, but also because of the hunger that has been forced upon them. One recent example is 17-year-old Atif, who died due to these conditions.
There is very little food available in the markets, and whatever is there is too expensive. People are forced to risk their lives to get whatever they can.
Hind Khoudary also reported that Palestinians are being shot daily near GHF aid distribution centers.
Palestinians say they have no choice. Either they watch their children die in front of their eyes or take the risk of being shot while trying to get food.
Scottish First Minister calls Gaza situation genocide
Scotland’s First Minister John Swinney told reporters that it is very clear a genocide is happening in Palestine and there can be no debate about that.
According to the Scottish newspaper The National, he said he has seen horrible reports that match the nature of genocide.
He said that he has made his feelings clear, even if not everyone has heard them yet. He shared these thoughts while his speech was interrupted several times by pro-Palestinian protesters during an event at the Stand Comedy Club in Edinburgh.
When asked if the Scottish government is funding apprenticeship programs for companies that help make weapons for Israel, he said the government is being very careful.
