Some Pakistani celebrities’ accounts restored in India

After banning the social media accounts of many Pakistani actors and actresses in India, some of these restrictions have now been quietly lifted.

Back in the last week of April, after an attack in the Pahalgam area of Indian-occupied Kashmir, the Indian government blamed Pakistan. After that, several anti-Pakistan actions were taken. Because Pakistani dramas and actors are very popular in India, the Indian government used the situation as an excuse to block Pakistani YouTube channels, including major entertainment platforms.

The restriction did not stop there. The next step was to block access to Pakistani celebrities on social media. When Indian users tried to visit these accounts, they saw a message saying that the content was restricted due to a legal request and is not available in India.

Several famous Pakistani actors, cricketers, and public figures were affected by the ban.

However, recently, Indian social media users were surprised to see posts from some Pakistani celebrities appearing on their timelines. It was then noticed that access to some of these accounts had been restored in India, without needing a VPN. This means that the ban on some accounts was quietly lifted.

The celebrities whose accounts are now visible again in India include Danish Taimoor, Ahad Raza Mir, Mawra Hocane, and Yumna Zaidi.

This sudden reappearance of their accounts has started a new discussion online about whether the ban has been officially removed. However, there has been no statement from Indian authorities on this matter.

Even though some accounts are accessible again, the accounts of Mahira Khan, Wahaj Ali, Fawad Khan, Iqra Aziz, Farhan Saeed, Hania Aamir, and others are still blocked in India.
