Famous Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor and her late ex-husband Sanjay Kapoor’s married life has once again come into the spotlight.
According to Indian media reports, after Sanjay Kapoor’s sudden death, director Sunil Darshan made important and surprising revelations about Karisma and her relationship with Sanjay.
Sunil Darshan, who worked with Karisma in several films, said that after marriage, Karisma felt like she lost her identity. She wanted a simple and homely life, but she ended up living like a trophy wife, which she never liked.
Sunil explained that Karisma and Sanjay’s marriage was unexpected, and both had very different personalities and views on life. Sanjay’s sister, who was from Delhi, was Karisma’s childhood friend, but after marrying her friend’s brother, Karisma couldn’t adjust to Delhi’s royal lifestyle.
The couple got married in 2003 and officially separated in 2016. During their marriage, they had a daughter and a son.
Sunil Darshan also mentioned that although during the separation, Sanjay faced serious allegations — including forcing Karisma to be intimate with his friends and physical abuse — the two later made peace after the divorce and maintained a respectful relationship for the sake of their children. Sanjay remarried, while Karisma continues to live as a single mother.
It is also worth noting that Karisma Kapoor, along with her children, attended Sanjay Kapoor’s funeral and prayer service, which shows that their relationship ended on peaceful terms.
