Sunil Dutt’s heartfelt words in memory of his late wife Nargis
Legendary Indian actor Sunil Dutt once spoke about his late wife and famous actress Nargis. His words became a strong example of deep love.
Nargis, whose real name was Fatima Rashid, left a lasting mark in Bollywood with her brilliant performances. But along with her work, she also left behind a beautiful love story that many people admire.
Nargis started her acting career in 1942 with the film Tamanna. Over the next three decades, she worked in many successful movies like Andaz, Aag, Barsaat, Shree 420, Chori Chori, and Mother India.
Nargis was one of the most loved actresses of her time. Many people admired her, and one of them was Sunil Dutt. His love for her was true and did not remain incomplete, as they eventually got married.
The star couple first met on the set of the film Do Bigha Zamin. Later, they fell in love while working together in the Bollywood blockbuster Mother India.
On 11 March 1958, Nargis and Sunil Dutt got married in a private ceremony. After some time, they shared the happy news with close friends and family.
The couple had three children: Priya Dutt, Namrata Dutt, and Bollywood superstar Sanjay Dutt. Their family was happy until a sad moment came — Nargis was diagnosed with cancer. Sadly, she passed away in 1981 due to this serious illness.
Sunil Dutt respected Nargis’s last wish and held her funeral according to Islamic traditions, as she was a Muslim.
The pain of losing his wife was clear on Sunil Dutt’s face, but he stayed strong for his son Sanjay Dutt.
In a video clip going viral on social media, Sunil Dutt talked about the pain of losing Nargis. His emotional words made many listeners cry.
In the interview, the host asked him how deeply he was affected by the loss of Nargis.
He said that he could not express his feelings because when someone you love passes away, you feel like you won’t be able to live without them. But somehow, people still go on living.
Sunil Dutt also shared that he used to think he would die without her, but that didn’t happen. He is still living, and whenever he thinks about his life now, he remembers a song from the film Mother India that says: since we are born in this world, we must live.
It is important to note that after Nargis passed away, Sunil Dutt never married again. He believed that one love and one marriage was enough for him. He passed away on 25 May 2005.
