Will Fawad Khan’s film Abeer Gulal not be released in Pakistan either?

Has Fawad Khan’s film Abeer Gulal been banned in Pakistan after facing restrictions in India? Claims by Indian media have raised serious questions.

Following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Indian-occupied Kashmir, on April 22, tensions have severely impacted Fawad Khan’s much-anticipated return to Bollywood with the film Abeer Gulal.

Indian media claims that after being banned in India, the film has now also been prohibited in Pakistan. This situation seems to have once again pushed back hopes of collaboration between the film industries of both countries.

The presence of Indian actress Vaani Kapoor alongside Fawad Khan in the film is reportedly a major reason for the ban in Pakistan.

According to Indian media, distributor Satish Anand confirmed in an interview that the film will no longer be released in Pakistan. He said the decision was made in response to India reimposing a ban on Pakistani artists.

He added that while this ban may cause financial loss to Pakistani film distributors, the decision is being seen as unavoidable under the current circumstances.

Fawad Khan had previously won the hearts of Indian audiences with films like Kapoor & Sons, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, and Khoobsurat. He had stayed away from Indian cinema since 2016.

Abeer Gulal was scheduled for release on May 9, but it has now been postponed indefinitely.
