Actor Zahid Ahmed strongly criticized social media and content creators, saying that these platforms promote jealousy, self-promotion, and show-off behavior among people.
He recently appeared on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, where he shared his views about social media. Zahid said that he sees social media with hatred and disgust. According to him, it is one of the most dangerous and evil inventions of humanity, and those who created it will be punished in the hereafter.
He said that social media goes completely against human nature and especially against the way Muslims are taught to live. Islam teaches people to live humbly, stay modest, avoid showing off, and think more about Allah. But social media, he added, is all about fame, likes, followers, competition, and showing off oneself or one’s family, which he called a trap of evil.
Zahid Ahmed said that social media is useful only when used for business purposes because it helps people earn a living. However, its social side encourages jealousy, pride, and a sense of superiority among people.
He added that these platforms make people compare themselves with others, criticize them, and even feel happy at someone else’s downfall.
Talking about TikTok, he said that it has even led to real-life tragedies, including murders that happened before everyone’s eyes. He warned that one day the truth about these platforms will become clear.
Zahid Ahmed also said that social media has spread all over the world, and people are blindly following it. He admitted that his own interview would also be shared on the same platform and would get negative comments from users accusing him of criticizing the very medium he is using.
He said that those who post hateful comments do not have the courage to say things face to face. Social media, he added, has given everyone the freedom to say anything, whether meaningful or not.
In the end, Zahid Ahmed said that people forget their comments are read by others and can affect them deeply, yet they continue to write without thinking.
