Zia Zulfiqar, brother of Ducky Bhai, who is facing cases for promoting betting apps, said in his statement that Aroob should not be dragged into this matter. He added that their sister-in-law and mother have already suffered severe mental stress.
In his video message, Zia said false news spread on social media claiming that Saad would face seven years in prison and a fine of 15 million rupees. He explained that when he visited Saad in jail, Saad had been crying for two days, asking what was happening, because the case was not that big. Saad has been in jail for three months, 22 days of which he spent on physical remand, and the rest in jail.
He said this case has deeply affected not only Saad but the entire family, especially the women. Zia added that many reporters and social media pages spread both true and false information during this time.
He said that the legal action taken against NCCU is not for personal benefit but for all those who have been blackmailed. During his jail visit, he spoke with Ducky Bhai through a phone behind glass and learned from other inmates that many prisoners are also victims of blackmail.
Zia said that after returning from jail, he, his mother, and Aroob often feel lucky that they can afford lawyer fees and travel expenses, while many prisoners are too poor to get legal help.
He added that NCCU as an institution is not corrupt, but it came into contact with people who misused their authority. FIA Anti-Corruption fully cooperated and supported them in this matter.
In the end, Zia advised the public that if any government officer tries to blackmail them, they should contact the Anti-Corruption Circle with proof, and they will help. He said FIA Anti-Corruption Cell has restored their faith in the system.
