Faisal Qureshi gives Nadia Afghan a sharp reply over her criticism of English
Pakistani actor Faisal Quraishi gave a strong and well-reasoned reply to actress Nadia Afghan’s criticism on a scene from his new drama Behrupiya.
Faisal Quraishi is one of Pakistan’s top actors. He has won the hearts of fans with his excellent acting and versatility.
Some of his famous dramas include Bashar Momin, Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan, Wada, and Khil. These dramas clearly show his amazing acting skills.
Besides acting, Faisal also hosted a morning show for a long time, which was loved by fans. But now, he is only seen in acting roles.
These days, he is working in the drama Behrupiya, where he plays multiple personalities of one character at the same time.
Like other dramas, this one was also discussed in the popular Pakistani show Kya Drama Hai, where many critics shared their opinions.
During the discussion, Nadia Afghan said that it is not necessary to speak English in a drama. If someone cannot speak a certain language, they should not be given that role. For example, if she cannot speak Punjabi, she would not accept a Punjabi-speaking role.
She also said that if speaking English is necessary in a drama, then cast an English actor. She did not understand why the actors speak English in a fake foreign style. She said it looks very bad and the actors do not look good while doing it. She suggested that actors should speak Urdu instead.
In response to this, Faisal Quraishi shared a video where he was seen talking to the drama’s director, Shakeel Khan.
Faisal asked Shakeel Khan if he remembered Nadia Afghan’s comment that he spoke wrong English in the drama. Faisal said that since Shakeel was handling the editing, he must have heard it. He also asked about the character Kabeer in the drama, who speaks in a funny English accent called Gocha, and questioned why there is so much English in the drama.
Shakeel Khan replied that they had to show different alters in the drama. So, while playing one character, Faisal spoke simple Urdu, for another he spoke Punjabi, and for another he used English. When you show different personalities of the same person, you have to change the character completely. He said if someone can show him where the English was wrong, he will accept it. He also added that people should not comment on an actor’s personality, but it is okay to talk about the content. We also learn from such feedback.
Faisal Quraishi, in a sarcastic way, said that nowadays people focus more on chest hair than the actual content.
He ended the video by saying this was necessary, and it does not mean that the English was wrong.
