Pakistan’s passport ranks among top 100 with access to 32 visa-free countries
Pakistan’s passport has made noticeable progress in global rankings. According to the Henley Passport Index 2025, the Pakistan passport now holds the 100th position, a clear jump from its 113th spot in 2021.
With this new rank, Pakistani passport holders can travel to 32 countries without needing a visa in advance. This includes visa-free and visa-on-arrival access, reflecting Pakistan’s growing international ties and improving global image.

These countries either allow entry without a visa or provide visa on arrival, making travel more accessible for Pakistanis.
Officials say that this improvement is the result of updated technology, stronger international cooperation, and active government efforts. Director General of Immigration and Passports, Mustafa Jamal Qazi, appreciated the role of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his team for upgrading the Pakistani passport system.
Pakistan has now launched e-passports with advanced security features, including NFC chips, in line with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards. These changes have improved the safety and reputation of the passport globally.
To support travelers, e-gates will soon be available at major Pakistani airports, helping e-passport holders go through faster immigration checks. The government has also removed the nationwide passport backlog, allowing faster application processing.
Modern systems at passport offices are helping citizens complete applications easily. For overseas Pakistanis, online services are now available. The Passport Fee Asaan app makes fee payments simple, and a new app is coming soon to allow people to apply for passports from home.
On the international front, Pakistan has recently signed a visa-free travel agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for holders of diplomatic and official passports. This step removes visa requirements for high-level officials and shows stronger ties between both countries.
Experts believe that if Pakistan continues making progress in technology, services, and foreign relations, the Pakistan passport ranking will continue to improve in future updates.
